Organizational Setting

The Business Solutions Section is part of the IAEA's Division of Information Technology. It is responsible for the promotion and implementation of innovative information technology (IT) solutions that not only enable or enhance delivery of the Agency's programme but also improve the efficiency of Agency management and staff, thereby facilitating the Agency's ability to meet emerging business challenges.

Assignment

Under the supervision of the Head of the Business Solutions Section, to provide support for the creation and maintenance of computerized systems, with emphasis on the usability and graphic design of user interfaces. Specifically:
  • To create storyboards and prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content for new and existing projects;
  • To design the graphical style (including style sheets) for web applications (and software products in general), taking into account the target audience, in accordance with corporate visual standards and usability best practices;
  • To provide support for the maintenance of websites, with emphasis on the usability and graphic design of user interfaces;
  • To work as part of a team of developers to build and implement the chosen graphical style, including testing and documentation;
  • To create images and other multimedia material, digitally optimised and ready for the web;
  • To maintain and support the intranet system (OASIS).

Education and Experience

  • Completed secondary education, including training in computer graphics design or related topics.
  • At least seven years of relevant experience in the field of graphics design for the Internet.
  • Experience in usability, user experience analysis and internationalization of web sites.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of Microsoft Windows and Internet environment.
  • Experience working with Web Content Management Systems, an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in using graphics tools, preferably including one or more of: Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash or Dreamweaver.
  • Creativity and imagination in proposing suitable graphical designs for web sites, taking into account their purpose, usability and audience.
  • Expertise in HTML, Cascading Style Sheets and Javascript.
  • Extensive knowledge of cross-platform browser compatibility restrictions and requirements.
  • Knowledge of front-end development technologies, such as AJAX, an asset.
  • Ability to perform within broad guidelines provided by the project manager, proposing deadlines and a general methodology, and completing the assignment independently.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively in a multicultural environment with respect and sensitivity for diversity.
  • English typing and grammar tests to IAEA standards.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Remuneration

The Agency offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at €36 427 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), six weeks' annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance.
