Organizational Setting

The Department of Safeguards is the organizational hub for the implementation of IAEA safeguards. The IAEA implements nuclear verification activities for 163 States in accordance with their safeguards agreements. The safeguards activities are undertaken within a dynamic and technically challenging environment including advanced nuclear fuel cycle facilities and complemented by the political diversity of the countries.

The Division of Technical Support comprises of four sections and is responsible for the development and implementation of the Department's equipment systems.

The Equipment Service Desk, located in the Inspection Logistics Section, operates the Equipment Front Desk that serves as a single point of contact for delivering equipment and supplies to the Department.

Assignment

Under the supervision and guidance of the Unit Head, the incumbent coordinates the delivery of safeguards equipment and supplies as requested by Departmental staff. Specifically, the incumbent:
  • Monitors and ensures timely processing, documentation and delivery of hand carried safeguards equipment and supplies using the Equipment and Supplies Requisition System (ESRS);
  • Administers and maintains ESRS to record correctly transactions of equipment and supplies delivery. Assists ESRS users when necessary with updating or rectifying records;
  • Distributes consumables for SG inspection purposes. Maintains stock of consumables and initiates procurement requests when needed. Maintains the associated stock management system;
  • Acts as a primary contact to the clients of the Equipment Front Desk. Responds to customer inquiries related to delivery of equipment;
  • Issues property passes for the delivered equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong client-oriented approach enabling the incumbent to work cooperatively with staff at all levels.
  • Good organizing skills: Ability to work independently, to establish priorities and respect deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills combined with an ability to work in and adapt to a multicultural environment with sensitivity to and respect for diversity.
  • High degree of accuracy and ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and relational databases (MSAccess).
  • English typing (Level 2) and English language test to IAEA standard.
  • Excellent knowledge of both spoken and written English. Knowledge of German an advantage.

Education and Experience

  • Completed secondary education.
  • At least five years of relevant work experience including work with databases, customer service and handling of equipment.
  • Working experience in an international environment desirable.

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at €32 526 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), six weeks' annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance.
