The Department of Technical Cooperation (TC) consists of a Division of Programme Support and Coordination and four regional divisions (Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Latin America), which are organized into two sections each. The objective of the regional divisions is to respond to relevant developmental priorities in Member States through effective programme management, increased engagement of Member States, partnership building and improved coordination in the region and to contribute to increased self-reliance of Member States in the application of nuclear techniques.
The TC operating environment is dynamic, participative and interactive with inputs received continuously from the Board of Governors, the General Conference, policy- and decision-makers, and technical counterparts in Member States and in the international development community. The Director reports directly to the Deputy Director General, Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation. He/she manages a TC programme of approximately $30 million per annum and an administrative budget averaging $2.6 million. He/she is supported by a workforce comprising 9 professional staff and 25 support staff. |
Main purpose |

Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Director General, Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, and in coordination and close consultation with IAEA Member States and technical departments, the Director is responsible for the TC programme in the Europe region, ensuring a results-based response to Member States' developmental priorities in the application of nuclear techniques.

Role |
|
The Director is: 1) an adviser to the Deputy Director General on issues and trends impacting the TC programme in the Europe region; 2) a manager of the human and financial resources assigned to the Division, ensuring development of programmes responding to Member States' priority needs; 3) a leader providing strategic direction and motivating staff in the Division, promoting good performance and teamwork and creating an environment where staff can develop their skills and share knowledge and experience; 4) an advocate for the TC programme, building strategic partnerships and alliances with stakeholders at the regional and national level and demonstrating the IAEA's comparative advantage.

The Director builds and maintains strategic partnerships and alliances, maintaining continuous dialogue with Member States and other stakeholders to ensure proactive, innovative and responsive programme planning and cost-effective and efficient programme delivery. In addition, he/she builds and develops strategic partnerships and high-level networks within the UN system organizations, international non-governmental institutions and the international development community. He/she interacts with other IAEA programme managers to coordinate and synergize activities.

Remuneration |
|
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package
including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $89 129 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a
variable post adjustment
which currently amounts to US $63 014*, dependency benefits,
diplomatic status,
rental subsidy,
education grant,
relocation and
repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation,
home leave,
pension plan and
health insurance.
