Organizational Setting |

The Planning and Economic Studies Section located in the Department of Nuclear Energy is responsible for the implementation of the IAEA's subprogrammes on: (a) energy modelling, databanks and capacity building; and (b) energy-economy-environment (3E) analysis. The objective is to enhance the capacity of Member States to perform analyses regarding national and regional electricity and energy system development, energy investment planning and energy-environment policy formulation. The Section also supports specific requests for economic analyses within the house, particularly for nuclear infrastructure development or comparative assessments of nuclear technology applications versus non-nuclear alternatives.

Main purpose |
|
Under the supervision of the Senior Energy/Nuclear Power Planner, the Energy Systems Analyst/Energy Planner ensures that the specialized application software of the IAEA's analytical tools for energy systems analysis (energy models) are well maintained and functional on various computer systems/platforms, and that approved enhancements to the energy models are incorporated in an efficient manner ensuring compliance with the standards and compatibility with end-users resources. In addition, the incumbent assists the Section Head in data searches and analyses, at short notice, for publications, presentations, etc.

The incumbent builds close working relationships within the Section, with nuclear knowledge management staff responsible for the development/enhancement of the IAEA's energy models and nuclear knowledge management related energy/nuclear indicators, and with immediate supervisors.

The Agency offers an attractive remuneration package
including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $43 662 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a
variable post adjustment
which currently amounts to US $34 406*, dependency benefits,
rental subsidy,
education grant,
relocation and
repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation,
home leave,
pension plan and
health insurance.
