The Nuclear Data Section, one of four Sections in the Division of Physical and Chemical Sciences in the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications, is primarily responsible for the maintenance and provision of a number of high-quality nuclear databases and providing services to users worldwide.
The working environment of the Section is dynamic and collaborative, involving interaction with external counterparts in Member States, from other international organizations and with members of the international scientific community. The Section consists of three Units covering the delivery of data to users, nuclear data development and the provision of atomic and molecular data. The Section's information technology (IT) systems are managed by the Atomic and Molecular Data Unit. The Section team comprises eleven professional and five support staff, as well as consultants who contribute periodically. |
Main purpose |
|
Reporting to the IT Systems Engineer in the Atomic and Molecular Data Unit, the Nuclear Data Analyst contributes to the development of nuclear data software, the production of relational databases and manages the updating of the Section's software. These IT resources assist Member States in enhancing the peaceful use of fission and fusion energy technologies and non-energy applications. He/she also provides technical assistance at the request of Member States.

Role |

The Nuclear Data Analyst/Programmer is: (1) a technical specialist, developing the software and relational databases required by the Section; (2) a manager of the maintenance and updating of the Section's nuclear data software; and, (3) a technical expert providing definitive advice on nuclear data software issues to Member States and external organizations.

Partnerships |
|
The Nuclear Data Analyst discusses issues regarding the coordination of planning and implementation with counterparts in other nuclear data centres. Additionally, she/he develops collaborative working relationships with in-house IT experts regarding software development and implementation.
The Nuclear Data Analyst is a focal point for a pool of experts in relevant networks, notably the International Network of Nuclear Structure and Decay Data Evaluators network (NSDD), and nuclear reactions data centres (NRDCs). |

Remuneration |
|
The Agency offers an attractive remuneration package
including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $53 629 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a
variable post adjustment
which currently amounts to US $38 184*, dependency benefits,
rental subsidy,
education grant,
relocation and
repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation,
home leave,
pension plan and
health insurance.
